Why SLP Miami Therapy?

Helping children grow, communicate, and thrive

At SLP Miami Therapy, we provide a warm, caring, and professional environment where every child feels supported, understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

We believe every child develops at their own pace, and with the right guidance, therapy, and family support, meaningful progress is possible.

Over 35 Years of Pediatric Experience

Our founder, Maria del Pilar Tormo, MS CCC-SLP, has dedicated more than 35 years of her professional life to helping children improve their communication, speech, language, and developmental skills. Her experience in pediatric therapy allows us to provide personalized care designed around each child’s unique needs.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

We have created a child-friendly space where children can feel comfortable, motivated, and confident during their therapy sessions. Our therapy rooms and resources are designed to support learning through play, movement, interaction, and positive experiences. Because when children feel safe and happy, they are more open to learning and growing.

Does My Child Need Speech Therapy?

Understanding your child’s communication journey

Communication begins long before a child says their first words.

From crying, smiling, making eye contact, pointing, using gestures, and making sounds, children are constantly finding ways to connect with the people around them. Over time, these early communication skills grow into words, phrases, conversations, and meaningful interactions.

At SLP Miami Therapy, we help families understand their child’s communication development and identify when extra support may be needed.

Signs your child may need speech therapy

Speech therapy helps children with difficulties in comprehension (receptive language: understanding names, instructions or questions) and expression (expressive language: using gestures, sounds or words). Its aim is to provide them with the tools to communicate with greater confidence.

Supporting social communication

Some children speak clearly but struggle with pragmatic language (social communication). Speech therapy helps them build everyday skills like taking turns, making eye contact, understanding social cues, playing with others, and using appropriate body language to interact and make friends naturally.

Speech therapy and medical conditions

A number of medical or developmental conditions (such as autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy or stammering) can affect a child’s communication. Our team designs a personalised therapy plan tailored to the needs, abilities and goals of each child and their family.

How long does speech therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies from child to child: some need short-term support, whilst others require long-term support. The most important step is the initial assessment, which helps us understand their needs and recommend the best care plan.

Providing essential and engaging activities for children.

We offer a variety of essential and engaging activities designed to nurture children’s growth and creativity. Our programs ensure fun-filled learning experiences that inspire curiosity & development.
